Luciano Sandrone defines himself a “garagiste”, as his first vintages are produced in the 70s in his own garage.
A great passion for wine, that brought him to fully dedicate himself to wine, in spite of the expensive and competitive area he was working in: Barolo.
Today, Luciano Sandrone is one of the most important “young” realities of Barolo, renowned for the care and respect they put in bringing out the purest and most honest version of the grapes and terroirs they work.
The winery’s Barbera comes from vineyards in Barolo, Novello and Monforte, all separately vinified and then blended together, to better interpret the terroir.
2017 is famous, in the Langhe area, for being a very warm and dry vintage: and that’s just perfect for Barbera, a grape that loves heat and sun to ripe perfectly.
This wine, in this particular vintage can be seen as the quintessence of Barbera d’Alba: a triumph of dark and ripe fruit, tasty and generous in the mouth, with delicate tannins. Perfect with a delicately creamy pasta, white meat or steamed vegetables.
Service temperature 16-18 °C
Moderate intervention, preference of agronomic techniques over chemical compounds.
Spontaneous fermentation, malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak barrels of 500 liters (partially new) for 15 months, then in bottle for at least 9 months.
