Description:

Le Ragnaie is a family business located in the hamlet carrying the same name, in the center of the Montalcino area just outside the village. Since 2002 the estate is a project by the Campinoti family, Roberto and Jennifer, who take care of the vineyards and of the bed&breakfast at the same time.
Sangiovese is the only grape cultivated by the Company, due to the structure of the soil, particularly suited for this grape variety.
The vineyards for the property’s Brunello di Montalcino are located at rather high altitudes: 530-600 meters above sea level, with south-west exposure, facing the Tyrrhenian sea. The exposure, combined with organic cultivation and care for biodiversity, give structured wines rich in aromas.
2009 is a particularly controversial vintage in Montalcino due to the irregular quality of the wines. In this difficult year, the Brunello di Montalcino of “Le Ragnaie” has obtained excellent scores from international critics, showing the potential of both the soil and the producer.


Tasting Notes and Pairing:
An “anomalous” Brunello for the vintage: concentrated, complex, floral. Red fruit, herbs, flowers, spicy notes of liquorice and hint of minerality.
Perfect with a meat or mushroom risotto, or a delicate roasted veal.
Suggested serving temperature:
16-18 °C
Suggestion to open it about 1 to 2 hours before serving it. And let it breath in the glass as well.

Organic certified.
Production method and aging:
Fermentation and maceration in concrete for 25-40 days. Slavonian barrels for 36-48 months and subsequent rest in the bottle.

  • Membership includes a Wine Concierge service that will be at disposal of the members upon appointment for online and in-person meetings at Relais San Maurizio and in the area. The Concierge service will advice on wines of the San Maurizio Wine Club and Italian wine in general.
  • San Maurizio Wine Club is available to organize winery visits for its members with the Guest Producers of the project.

Upon subscription, you will receive email and whatsapp contact to plan your Wine Concierge appointment and your visits.

EVENTS

  • Members of the Club will be informed via email and on their personal website page of any event planned by the San Maurizio Wine Club for its members.

Events may be free or with an access fee and they may allow to be accompanied by a partner.
