The 2019 vintage in Bordeaux received immediate and critical attention from the international press. Not an easy vintage, it was however masterfully managed by the great Château. After a difficult spring, June kicked off a warm season, allowing the fruit to fully ripen, despite a few storms in July, which were well handled especially by the more cobble-rich soils. New rains in autumn allowed temperatures to drop and wait for the right period for the harvest.
A winery that knows how to combine its long history and the winemaking tradition of Bordeaux, on one of the most important soils of this region, with experimentation and technology.
Château Lynch-Bages is one of the Gran Cru Classé of the appellation of Pauillac, in the Medoc: on the “left bank” of the Bordeaux region. Pauillac has always been considered as one of the most suitable sites in the region, for its exposure and for the soils rich in gravel, poorly compact and draining and perfect for the cultivation of vines and for the presence, in this magical place, of some the most valued Château of the entire appellation.
The Irish Lynch family already sensed the potential of these lands in the 17th century and, received thanks to a marriage, began trading wine. After a few changes of ownership and the inclusion, in 1855, in the register as Gran Cru Classé, in the 30s Jean-Charles Cazes, winemaker who managed other vineyards in the area, was contacted to rent and work the vineyards of Château Lynch -Bages, which at that point needed important supervision. This opportunity allows the young man, enterprising and experienced but certainly lacking the economic means, to work and experiment on one of the happiest lands in the region and to fall in love with the property, until at the beginning of the Second World War, he finally manages to buy it.
From that moment, an extremely happy period began for the Château which, under the expert and enterprising guidance of the family, Jean-Charles and Jean-Michel, engineer, became the site of a series of important experiments and innovations: the cellar is among the first to use the force of gravity for the transfers of must and wine, he inserts technologies in the cellar and also in the vineyard, with soil study systems. Among the stylistic figures, the parcelling of the plots, which remain separate for fermentation. For these reasons, as well as for the undeniable quality of the wines, which receive a particular peak after 2006, this Château is undoubtedly one of the most sought after in the region.

On the rive gauche of Bordeaux, 2019 shows itself as a classic vintage, and this wine respects its traditional smoothness and great concentration, with articulate notes on the nose and enveloping in the mouth.
Considered as of now to be one of the greatest expressions of 2019 Bordeaux.
Pair with a meat dish with complex cooking, a game dish with berry sauce.
