Description:

Jewel set between the two “sacred cows” of Pauillac, probably the most famous village in Bordeaux (Château Lafite and Château Mouton Rothschild), the history of Château Clerc Milon is linked to both, and to the excellence of the appellation.
Château Milon was part of the Lafite estate. It was sold as a “national property” and purchased in 1789 by the Clerc family, which gave it their name. Elected as Grand Cru Classé in the official categorization of 1855, it experienced a period of relative low notoriety, until, reduced to just 16 hectares from the initial 30, it was bought by Baron Philippe Rothschild, convinced of the great potential of the estate’s terroir and wines.
Today, having returned to a production of 40 hectares of vines, Château Clerc Milon, with its unmistakable label, the unique characteristics of its terroir and the style of the greatest Maisons of the region, is among the most sought-after wines of the appellation.
The vineyards of the property grow overlooking the Girone river, with gravelly and sandy soils, on a base rich in clay and silt, characteristics that give these wines a particular longevity. The vines have an average of over 50 years, among the oldest of the Medoc region, and for this reason they represent a richness also from the point of view of the clonal selection.
The 2010 vintage, together with the 2009, is among the most valued of the last Bordeaux harvests: dry and sunny season with great temperature range offering personality, freshness and longevity for these wines.

Tasting Notes and Pairing:
An imposing wine which, according to the critic Roger Voss, confirmes “its place in the firmament of Pauillac greats”: deep, concentrated and intense, with hints of ripe black fruits and chocolate. Perfectly integrated strong tannins and excellent acidity and a very long finish. Definitely not a wine to be approached young, but perfect for long aging.
To combine with game and poultry preparations, perfect for balancing wild hints.
Suggested serving temperature:
16-18 °C
Suggestion to open it about 1 to 2 hours before serving it. And let it breath in the glass as well.
in the vineyard:
Integrated viticulture, careful management of the ecosystem, pesticides kept to the minimum.
Production method and aging:
Gravity-process cellar. aged in oak (30% new) for 14-18 months depending on the vintage.
