Description:

Didier Dagueneau is as eclectic as extremely interesting: a true persnoality in the world of contemporary French wine. A unique character, without rules, a person who put in wine, as well as in the other great experiences of his life, all his energy, his commitment and his most passionate dedication.
Coming from a family linked to viticulture in the Loire, he chose a career as a motorcyclist, guided by his passion and the poor reputation enjoyed at that time by the wine region: that was characterized by producers who, at the time, sought mostly high yields and easy earnings.
Returning to his land after some racing accidents, in 1982 he began his production of wines, immediately distinguishing himself for a strong criticism of some colleagues for their poor quality choices. He approached Henri Jayer and the principles of biodynamics, in a period in which the practice was anything but cleared through customs. Thanks to his strong belief, to the care for the vineyards and the search for the quality and expression of the soils of the region, Dagueneau is undoubtedly registered among the personalities who have revived the Loire and Sancerre region and the reputation of the Sauvignon of which he becomes an ambassador of quality and a yardstick for comparison all over the world.
In 2002, the producer decides to embark on a new adventure in search of a sweet wine to integrate his production. Even now, he chose to bit on a little-known area and variety: the Petit Mangeng in the Jurançon appellation, in the south-west of France. The fame of the producer and his expert eye won the bet and today his “Les Jardins de Babylone” is undoubtedly one of the greatest representatives of this appellation.
2004, a great vintage for the sweet wines of the region, is perfect to inaugurate this new label which, already in its first edition, perfectly shows its unique characteristics and potential. Dagueneau will die in 2008, in a flight accident, but not before having given us this last jewel of his precious production.
